Apply for a paid summer internship with Spirit Farm in Vanderwagen, NM!
Spirit Farm was founded in 2015 with the mission of energizing growers by connecting traditional Native American and cutting edge regenerative farming practices to develop healthier foods. We have been developing a demonstration farm that heals the soil and reconnects indigenous growers to the land through traditional Native American farming practices, microbiological farming and composting. The anticipated result is not only the restoration and protection of sacred land, but better health outcomes for surrounding communities.
This summer, we are hiring three individuals for a 12-week immersive apprenticeship experience. This apprenticeship will involve mentorship, learning about soil microbiology, growing nutrient dense foods, animal husbandry, and food policy/advocacy. Teaching will take place both in a classroom setting and extensive hands-on learning, as well as meetings with food and agricultural policy partners. The program will culminate with a final project designed by the apprentices, which will focus on training local communities on regenerative farming practices.
- Room and board will be provided during the work week
- A stipend of $250 per week will be paid to apprentices
- Start date will be in May
- Must be 18-24 years old and a member of a Native American Tribe
